Project Spotlight: New Terminal Design at New Castle Municipal Airport

Our team has years of experience meeting the unique environmental and engineering challenges of airports of all sizes. We are thrilled to be working with the Lawrence County Airport Authority on some major improvements to New Castle Municipal Airport.

New Castle Municipal Airport is unique in that is financially self-sufficient, not relying on local municipal contributions. The airport’s planned improvements will improve its profitability and sustainability, while giving it more room to grow.

The first phase of the project involves the design and construction of a new terminal building. As the prime engineering consultant, Rhea will be leading the design efforts for the terminal building and will provide pavement and drainage designs for the terminal’s outdoor infrastructure.

The second and third phases will expand the airport’s existing runway. Rhea’s engineering services for these phases will include grading design, drainage design, pavement design, and permitting. Throughout the entire project, Rhea will work closely with the municipality, the county, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
