Celebrating National Aviation Day

By Nadia Johnson

Rhea is proud of our long-term clients in the aviation industry, including our neighbors at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), as well as Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and regional and municipal airports across Pennsylvania and West Virginia. From our headquarters in Moon, Pennsylvania, we have a clear view of all the takeoffs and landings at Pittsburgh International, so flight is never far from our minds.

Every department at Rhea has worked with the aviation industry. Our geotechnical and civil engineers have designed and tested the feasibility of new or improved runways, taxiways, and aprons, and our water resources specialists have designed the drainage systems to go along with them. We’ve tackled surveying projects at airports, conducted acoustic flight monitoring, and managed complex geospatial datasets on behalf of our aviation clients.

When an airport client is due for a Master Plan Update, we offer environmental and cultural resources support, even managing consultation and coordination for a National Register of Historic Places-listed Historic District at Allegheny County Airport.

We’ve even conducted public outreach on behalf of our airport clients, like our work for Charlotte Douglas’s Capital Improvement Program. Our Communications Manager, Marsha Morgenstern is particularly dedicated to public engagement, working closely with PIT’s Terminal Modernization Project on media production and writing articles for Blue Sky News.

We wish all our clients, friends, and partners in flight a very happy National Aviation Day. We are proud of the work we do to keep our region’s airports running and growing.
