A year at Rhea in review: looking back on 2023

As we settle into 2024, we’re looking back on all we achieved in 2023.

Without a doubt, 2023 was an eventful year for us at Rhea, as we settled into our new post-pandemic normal.

2023 gave us the opportunity to reach out to new clients and to reinforce our ties to our existing partners and clients. As of the year’s end, we are managing partners on four large federal contracts, working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Navy, through the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC). We’ve also looked to our neighbors in the Pittsburgh area, strengthening our ties with local clients like the Allegheny County Airport Authority and Pittsburgh Public Schools. We can’t wait to see where these partnerships take us in 2024.

Our commitment to staff health and safety served us well in 2023. In the office and in the field, we experienced ZERO lost-time work incidents, maintaining our sterling track record for safe fieldwork in any conditions. 2023 also marked a major revamp of our employee health and wellness program, offering more opportunities for our staff to participate and succeed in our friendly annual competition. The year culminated in a picnic last spring in honor of the all the dedicated participants.

We continued two of our favorite Rhea traditions in 2023, holding two seasonal beer exchanges and volunteering with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to maintain a garden plot in the South Side of Pittsburgh.

2023 was a big year for our Rhea family, too. VP Brad McCalla sent his eldest daughter, Haleigh, off to her first year of college with the 2023 Rhea scholarship in hand. Meanwhile, TWO of our team members welcomed new baby boys into their families. We could not be more excited for them.

While we can’t know all that 2024 has in store for us yet, we are optimistic. We’ve been hard at work this winter, and we are already proud of the things our team is accomplishing!
