Charlotte Douglas Airport Capital Improvement Program

Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT) has completed a Master Plan Update (MPU) and an Airport Capacity Enhancement Plan (ACEP). The CLT MPU and the ACEP identified that given projected enplanements and aircraft operations, CLT would require, among other improvements, an expansion of gates and the terminal apron to the south in order to adequately accommodate aircraft circulation. This apron expansion will necessitate the demolition of numerous buildings and the attendant relocation of the tenants and uses.

Rhea is assisting CLT Planning staff in developing a comprehensive plan for the impact area located south of the terminal apron. Current responsibilities include developing a Stakeholder and Tenant Outreach Package. The Outreach Package is to be disseminated to all Stakeholders and tenants in the South Development Area of the airport. The Data Sheet includes information related to exiting leases; square footages, term dates, etc., and provides an opportunity for the stakeholders and tenants to provide their projections for future spatial and adjacencies needs. Once the Data Sheets are completed and returned, Rhea along with CLT Planning and Business and Revenue staff will meet with each stakeholder and tenant to review their submittals. Following these meetings, Rhea will assist CLT staff to prepare a South Area future development plan to guide CLT’s future decision-making.
