Rhea has provided surveying and environmental services, including environmental site assessments, topographic surveying, and wetlands delineation in support of infrastructural improvements at Pittsburgh International and other Pennsylvania airports.

Airport Surveying and Environmental Services

In support of ongoing development at Pittsburgh International Airport, Rhea has conducted numerous environmental site assessments and wetland and stream investigations. Environmental site assessments ensure that construction activities will not encounter environmental hazards. Through site surveys, review of historic risks, and interviews with site occupants, Rhea ensures that development sites are free from environmental hazards and that all potential risks can be appropriately mitigated.

In addition, Rhea has conducted wetland and steam investigations at several sites in order to ensure that wetlands and waterways are not adversely impacted by development. Wetland boundaries were established through field surveys of wetland hydrology and vegetation, the limits were recorded with GPS, and each wetland was classified by type.

Rhea has also been tasked with conducting detailed topographic surveys before and after improvements to an airplane de-icing facility. Rhea personnel used GPS and conventional survey methods to define 0.2-foot topographic contours, along with corresponding maps, for use in the Airport Geographic Information System.

Efficient and accurate fieldwork by Rhea personnel allowed development to be carried out in a safe, environmentally sound manner.
